UT campus contains a wide variety of green infrastructure, Best Management Practices, and Low Impact Development practices to mitigate urban runoff and water quality concerns. Multiple underground cisterns exist on campus to store rainwater for irrigation use and for reuse in dormitory bathrooms (toilets) and laundry stations (cold water loads). Campus also contains bioswales, 18 water quality units, three rain gardens, a stormwater treatment wetland, over 30,000 square feet of permeable pavers, three dry detention vaults, approximately 11,000 square feet of green roof space, 40 trees with silva cells, a grassed swale, and approximately 7,600 feet of vegetated filter strips.
