A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
The University conducts a biennial anonymous survey of sustainability culture (the Sustainability Culture Indicator), a comprehensive measure of the extent to which sustainability is embedded in the culture of the organisation, which includes questions in relation to employees' sense of job satisfaction and engagement, as well as work culture.
This is an anonymous survey and all information collected is treated as confidential. Consent is implied by completion and submission of the survey.
This study is conducted under the auspices of the University’s Sustainability Committee and has been approved by the Tasmanian Social Science Human Research Ethics Committee [Ref.15525]
The latest survey was conducted in early 2022 and data is currently being analysed and compiled into a report by Awake Consultancy.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
The issues raised in the survey will be shared with the University's People and Wellbeing team for their consideration ahead of the next comprehensive Staff Engagement Survey being conducted later in 2022. These will be used to keep informing the implementation of the UTAS Strategic Plan and the UTAS People Strategy (which were established to address issues raised in past Sustainability and Staff Engagement surveys).
