A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:
As a community focused on education, the University of Tasmania holds professional development and growth as integral to how we operate. Professional development is a conversation about staff careers, growing their capacity to do excellent work in their current role as well as developing their capabilities to play other roles.
The University Staff Subsidy Assistance Waiver is a program that covers the fees for any combination of units up to a maximum of 25 credit points each calendar year for staff enrolled in a Commonwealth Supported Place. Units do not need to be directly related to their work area, hence staff can undertake any sustainability unit offered by the University.
Other examples of internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff include:
- Short courses in environment and sustainability through the University short courses (https://www.utas.edu.au/study/short-courses)
- Learning and Teaching Resources (via My Learning Online (MyLO) software) such as 'An Introduction to Sustainability at UTAS'
- Equity and Diversity (via My Learning Online (MyLO) software) such as 'Appropriate Workplace Behaviour'
- Health and Wellbeing training such as Mental Health First Aid (face to face).

A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :
The University of Tasmania also offers professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are offered by external providers. All courses are financially covered by the University. Some examples are:
- LinkedIn Learning including at least 48 courses (and more than 600 videos) related to sustainability
- 'Come Walk With Us' run by the Aboriginal Higher Education Advisor https://www.utas.edu.au/aboriginal-business/curriculum/come-walk-with-us
- 'LGBTI awareness and Ally training' by educators from Working It Out https://www.utas.edu.au/equity-diversity/ally-network.
