The University of Tasmania Open Access Repository (OAR) is the central online location for collecting, preserving and revealing the University's scholarly outputs for worldwide discovery and access.
The University's OAR includes:
- University research outputs submitted to the University's Web Access Research Portal (WARP) and eligible for Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA)
- Higher Degree Research theses
- Self-deposited unpublished grey literature scholarly outputs (i.e. conference papers, technical reports)
- Self-deposited Coursework Masters and Honours theses
- Items from the University's Library Special and Rare Collections
Indexed by Google Scholar, TROVE, CORE and BASE.

University researchers will develop research outputs in accordance with national and international standards and, wherever possible, share research outputs as openly for free dissemination to support knowledge creation and increase the value, influence, and impact of their research to the end-users of research in local, national and global communitites and the academy.
The Research Policy applies to all University researchers with research outputs. The Research Policy is supported by the Open Access Procedure (https://utas.libguides.com/ld.php?content_id=50271171) and the Publication and Dissemination of Research Procedure (https://www.utas.edu.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0003/1548210/Publication-and-Dissemination-of-Research-Procedure.pdf).
Voluntary submission of research outputs to the Institutional OA Repository by other members of the University community and the wider Tasmanian community is encouraged, to achieve the benefits of Open Access wherever possible.

A brief description of the open access APC fund:
New Read and Publish agreements provided by the Library offers APC payment to hundreds of selected journal titles from specific publishers from 2022. Staff/students publishing in a journal from a publisher with whom we have an agreement would be exempt of paying APCs. This is an ongoing agreement.
