This lowest wage at UTAS is a HEO01, step 2. This is a professional role with an annual wage of $49,212 AUD plus a retirement benefit of $8,366 AUD as the University's Staff Agreement states that the minimum total compensation for permanent employees is 17% superannuation.

ACOSS and UNSW developed the Poverty in Australia 2018 Report which indicated the poverty line is at $909/week after tax (including social security payments), which would translate to $1,140/week or $59,259 gross. The University working week hours were used to calculate the hourly rate.
The percentage of employees that receive a living wage was provided by the University's People and Wellbeing Department.
