Education for Sustainability Tasmania (http://efs.tas.edu.au/) is a United Nations recognised Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development (https://www.rcenetwork.org/portal/). EfS Tasmania is a network of leaders in sustainability research, training and education, working towards social, cultural, economic and environmental sustainability, using education as a central tool.
Education for Sustainability Tasmania:
- Facilitates collaboration and bring people together to work on sustainability education initiatives.
- Builds the capacity of organisations to improve delivery of sustainability education initiatives.
- Promotes and endorses sustainability education for projects delivered by members, as well as recognising the significant contribution Tasmania is making to the global learning space for sustainability education.
- Advocates for education as a tool to help more people develop the skills and capacity needed to protect the planet and ensure social and cultural prosperity for all.

It is a requirement of RCE's that "a university (...) should necessarily be a part of the RCE network", and therefore the University of Tasmania led the efforts to develop the application for RCE status and currently provides both in-kind and financial support to EfS Tasmania. Several UTAS staff members are part of the EfS Tasmania Steering Committee and the University will soon host the EfS Tasmania facilitator. University's education for sustainability resources are shared with other members of EfS Tasmania.
