Yes

A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
The University has various field trips and other immersive experience both domestically and internationally. Two feature programs are:

1. Service Learning in Indigenous Communities (SLIC), Service Learning in Indigenous Communities is a flagship project of the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Indigenous Strategy and Services) and extends the University’s commitment to embedding Aboriginal world views beyond the boundaries of the University campus. Service Learning draws together genuine community aspiration with the planning and provision of services. It fosters meaningful connections between people and place. The Service Learning in Indigenous Communities (SLIC) program allows students to work on essential projects co-designed and directed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, immersed within the community of their project for 10 days and continuing contact throughout the rest of the unit of study. As a participant in the program, they extend their cultural competency. In this program, students gain an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of being, knowing, and doing, through active listening and challenging your assumptions about the compartmentalisation of knowledge. As each project is led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, students are actively engaged in an authentic process of collaboration. https://www.sydney.edu.au/students/service-learning-in-indigenous-communities.html

2. RARE is a community-engaged learning program connecting students with remote, rural and Indigenous enterprises in Australia and South-East Asia to solve real-world business challenges. Our academically guided action research projects emphasise community consultation, researching best practice and reviewing local markets to provide remote entrepreneurs and organisations with solutions that suit challenging remote environments and socio-cultural differences. Each year, the RARE program offers a range of exciting action research projects in selected units of study. Students have the opportunity to travel and work alongside a remote enterprise and community, developing solutions and strategies for employment generating social enterprises or sustainability related community initiatives. Placements within communities can last 10 - 20 days. https://www.sydney.edu.au/business/study/student-experience/remote-and-rural-enterprise-program.html
