Part 1. Greenhouse gas emissions inventory
Yes
A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:
The University uses the SIMAP tool to complete the GHG emissions inventory.
Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes
A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:
GHG emissions are reviewed internally by Facilities Management Leadership staff who are not responsible for generating the GHG emission data.
Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:
---

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:
Commuting calculated based on known locations of employees and student residence and information on commuting modes from campus survey. Miles and trips input into SIMAP. Faculty staff air miles supplied by university's travel agent. Student air miles calculated from destination and number of student data supplied by International Education Center/Office of Study Abroad. Air miles calculated using www.airmilescalculator.com calculation tool. Solid waste data supplied by our solid waste disposal contractor. Wastewater based upon total water usage minus know evaporation loss from AC evaporation towers. Transmission & distributions losses calculated by SIMAP.

Do the air pollutant emissions figures provided include the following sources?:
Yes or No | |
Major stationary sources | Yes |
Area sources | No |
Mobile sources | No |
Commuting | No |
Off-site electricity production | No |
None
A brief description of the methodology(ies) the institution used to complete its air emissions inventory:
Per the requirements of our registration permit and the reporting tool, we track our consumption of natural gas and No. 2 fuel oil used in our boilers. We cross-check our on-site recorded data with the billing data from our natural gas utility. The fuel usage data is input directly into the MPCA reporting tool which then calculates and reports our emissions data.
Optional Fields
8,683.44
Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported thermal energy (location-based) :
1,240.14
Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
