In collaboration with the City of St. Petersburg, USFSP seeks to implement, utilize and optimize the Climate Action Plan as a guiding tool for all project proposals and sustainability initiatives. By uniting the carbon neutral goals, projects such as the bike share program, more solar arrays to strive for net-zero building designs and other projects will be undertaken to transform the city. The goal is for USFSP to be a leading example of sustainability.

Yes

Students, staff and some faculty are involved in certain city council commissions for sustainability planning. These working groups meet and formally plan and propose projects which are deemed the most important. Examples include bike share program, micro-grid, solar arrays, sustainable landscaping, water conservation, LED lighting, etc.

Yes

By implementing the energy management system, USFSP's system will utilize technology to determine the best efficiencies for all buildings on campus and whether they are cost-effective. Such actions will produce tangible savings in money, power usage, carbon emissions and promote sustainability for the city and other institutions in the nation. Being a part of STARS, AASHE and the Institution for Sustainable Infrastructure, our University is becoming involved on the national level.
