Does the institution have an ongoing program or programs that offer incentives for faculty in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses?:
Yes
A brief description of the program(s), including positive outcomes during the previous three years (e.g. descriptions of new courses or course content resulting from the program):
Our Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Martin Tadlock, is the chair of our USFSP Master Academic Planning committee. This committee includes the deans, assistant deans, upper administration, and student government student bodies of every college within USFSP towards creating relative and meaningful coursework for the institution. This committee meets on a bi-monthly basis and discusses the advancement of curriculum and research towards steering the university in a successful academic path. The Master Academic Plan (MAP) is updated every five years, however, within the plan is highlighted what courses, degrees, and certificates will become available within a 1,3, & 5 year period from when the MAP was issued.
A brief description of the incentives that faculty members who participate in the program(s) receive:
All members on this committee have a justified saying for the advancement in academic curriculum. Thus, if several new courses are going to be created in the College of Arts & Sciences, then more funding will need to be allocated to that College for future hiring of instructors/researchers, however, this will need to be justified by the other College departments. Furthermore, faculty can insist on what courses they would like to teach and what the biggest demand is from students towards teaching. Overall, each committee member can actively add to the MAP working document before it goes into final submission by Dr. Tadlock.
