The Green Event certification program at USC is a collaboration between the Sustainable Carolina Interns and any university club or office who are hosting events. In order to achieve green event certification, points must be earned in all five categories that comprise the certification checklist. These categories are Marketing and Communications, Transportation, Energy Usage, Food and Drink, Decoration and Waste Management, and Education. Each category also holds the potential to earn innovation credits that are approved by the certification team. The minimum threshold to achieve the certification is 14 points. Since its inception, over 7,000 members of the USC community have attended Green Certified Events.
