A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to staff:
Professional development is managed by the HR Department. Sessions are posted on their calendar and open to all staff; topics in include safety, healthy lifestyle management, leadership, and ally management. The Office of Sustainability in collaboration with HR hosts curriculum workshops and green office trainings that are open to all university employees. The OOS also goes to offices and teaches Sustainable Living Workshops based on environmental wellness and sustainability. Facilties educates their employees on proper recycling and waste management techniques. Housing gives Resident mentors an hour-long training that defines basic tenants of sustainability, University Housing Sustainability programs, waste management and recycling information, supporting programs and grab-and-go programs available to RM’s through the year. Campus Dining gives employees a presentation on back of house composting and other sustainable dining practices in place across campus.

A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution(e.g. through payment, reimbursement, or subsidy):
Multiple university employees and students attend the annual AASHE conference each year. Staff members attend the annual College and University Recycling Coalition conference to develop a better knowledge of recycling and zero waste practices. Staff members attend the annual Post Landfill Action Network Conference to learn about zero waste principles and how to support students in their sustainability endeavors on campus.
