A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :
The African American Professors Program is an initiative sponsored by the University of South Carolina, the W.K. Kellog Foundation, and the South Carolina General Assembly and is designated to recruit, train, and prepare African American students to become college and university professors by assisting them to obtain doctoral degrees. This program originated in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policies in the College of Education and is now housed in the Office of the Provost.
