A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contribute to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
The University sets a minimum goal of 75% recycling rate for C&D on all major construction and renovation projects. This is included as part of the campus green building requirements and included in all construction bids and contracts. The goal and requirement are also included in the campus Sustainable Design Guidelines. The University has worked with contractors to train their workers and develop C&D recycling plans and documentation procedures. Additionally, the University is a regular presenter at the state and regional Recycling Conferences on implementing C&D recycling for business.
