A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
This January 20-22, we hosted the first annual Carolina EcoReps Conference to bring together student EcoReps and their staff advisors from around North and South Carolina. We had 12 schools participate by sending over 50 students and 10 staff to the conference. Many of the programs in our region are new or struggling, so this was a time to re-energize our programs and share solutions to common struggles. The conference included sessions on topics like writing learning outcomes for EcoReps programs, assessing your program, working with your university administration, and holding a carbon neutral basketball event. We also participated in a community service day at a local urban farm, took students to our city farmer's market, and provided time for students to create action plans for regional issues. The feedback from the conference participants was very positive and over 95% of the attendees are hoping we will begin holding the conference annually.
