The Scientific Publishing Unit supports the mission of enhancing the university's reputation and achieving its objectives through the scientific publications of the University which aim to serve society and build knowledge in social and human sciences in pure and applied sciences and engineering, in addition to making various scientific publications accessible to the academic community and to the general public.

The units publish books and journals. The books are categorized as teaching, references or knowledge enrichment types. Three journals are published within the unit as follows:

1. University of Sharjah Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences.

The main objectives of the scientific publishing unit include continuous improvement of the quality of scientific publications that have been peer reviewed, in an attempt to ensure that such articles meet standards of quality and scientific validity.

Open Access Policy

It is the policy of the Scientific Publishing Unit at the University of Sharjah that all issues and articles of the UoS Sharia and Islamic Studies are made freely available online. The Publishing Unit's open access policy seeks to make knowledge exchange easy and fruitful for local and international readers. Authors who seek to publish in this journal are therefore required to accept the university's open access policy. According to this policy, articles may be accessed and reused by all readers regardless of their affiliations. Readers are also allowed to copy and transfer the published articles or elaborate on them without any prior authorization or financial charges. Authors shall neither pay a submission fee nor a publication fee.

A brief description of the open access APC fund:

University provides 2000 AED as publication charges.

Article (42) The Dean may approve coverage of publishing academic research in international scientific conferences and gatherings when there is an approved financing of research for the faculty member concerned with publishing. This can be achieved if he/she implements a research project in his capacity as principal investigator, associate investigator, coordinator, or member of a research group. The publishing amount shall be deducted from the research general budget for the research or the research group. As for the research projects that fall outside the framework of funded projects or research groups, these are covered by the budget of the scientific research. The Dean may approve the price cost immediately provided the amount does not exceed AED 2000. Should the application exceed the approved amount, the Chancellor’s approval must be obtained upon recommendation of the Dean.
