The Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE) has formed a committee to prepare the feasibility of applying sustainability measures on the UOS campus. Link: https://www.sharjah.ac.ae/en/Research/RISE/Pages/scp.aspx

The main role of the committee members was to apply the sustainability principles to turn UoS campuses into more sustainable ones, recommend practical approaches for cutting the costs of energy and water consumption, raise the university's name in the community, raise faculty and students' awareness, and encourage research and education in the sustainability area.

The University Sustainability Office endeavors to develop a culture of sustainability, by reducing the environmental impact and incorporating sustainability in every aspect of UOS campus life and operations. These efforts can seek "incremental" improvements over time or "breakthrough" improvement all at once. This will be accomplished by implementing the continuous improvement methodology

The Sustainability Office has established 30 Sustainability
Circles to engage the members of the UOS community (students, staff, and
faculty members) in its endeavors to develop a culture of
sustainability and incorporate sustainability in every aspect of
the campus life.
The Sustainability Circle is a concept that has been adopted by the Sustainability Office to engage the members of the University of Sharjah community (students, employees, and faculty members) in its endeavors to develop a culture of sustainability and to incorporate sustainability in every aspect of the campus life. It builds on the same principle as the well-known notion of the Japanese Quality Circle. A Sustainability Circle indicates that a group of volunteering members who have interests in a sustainability-related track such as energy, water, transportation and meet regularly to identify, analyze, and suggest initiatives or solutions to sustainability-related issues. The group is led by a sustainability track leader who presents its initiatives or solutions to management, then the approved solutions for each sustainability track are applied throughout the University Campus. Each of these Sustainability Circles is associated with a
specific sustainable field, and has its own goals, Key Performance
Indicators (KPIs), achievement, and initiatives. The
Sustainability Circles cover the following tracks:
