Yes

A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
ENVS 401 - Sustainability in Action is a 3 credit unit undergraduate course offered in the winter semester of each year which is required for successful completion of the Undergraduate Certificate in Sustainability. This course combines seminars and project-based activities to examine local and global sustainability issues, integrating perspectives and knowledge from both the social and natural sciences. Students will work in interdisciplinary, collaborative groups to address sustainability challenges on campus and in our community.

The course centres around a core group project that students undertake through self-directed learning throughout the entire semester. Groups are encouraged to identify sustainability issues or problems at the University of Saskatchewan campus that they would like to address, propose alternatives to, and potentially even change with the help of university staff. The Office of Sustainability provides support to help connect students with staff and faculty across campus that may be able to help provide concrete and practical plans of action for tackling their chosen problems in order to make a lasting impact with their project. Funding is available to students through the USSU Sustainability Committee to help bring the fruits of their projects into reality.

The course culminates in Our Common Future, a 2-day student sustainability project symposium at the end of the semester to unveil and present their solutions to their classmates, university staff and faculty, and community project partners.
