A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:
As a follow-up to a 2013 Transportation Demand Management Plan, the university conducted a transportation survey among staff, students and faculty in October 2016. An on-line survey was conducted to assess commuting choices, distances travelled and satisfaction or awareness of current programs that support alternative transportation. The modal split accounted for cycling, transit, walking, carpooling, motorcycling, and driving in a single occupancy vehicle. Students and staff & faculty were evaluated separately.
