RCE Conference of the Americas
In May 2008, the Saskatchewan Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (SK RCE on ESD) hosted the RCE Conference of the Americas. It was held at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan. The purpose of the conference was to strengthen the United Nations RCE on ESD Network (www.ias.unu.edu/efsd/rce) and to raise awareness of education for sustainable development. A number of University of Saskatchewan faculty and graduate students presented papers and participated in panels at this conference.

SERI Conference
The Sustainability Education and Research Institute (College of Education) hosts a conference on education for sustainability every two years that is attended by educators from throughout Saskatchewan, including from the community-based, elementary, secondary and post-secondry sectors.

SERI Journal
Of Land & Living Skies is a community journal where theory and practice merge, becoming a space for dialogue within the fields of environmental and sustainability education, and focusing on research, policy, and community practices, as well as inspiring action.

SEPN Research
The Sustainability and Education Policy Network (SEPN) is a research-based partnership between academic research institutions and national and international organizations. The research program is unique in its scope and inclusive methodology of engaging multiple communities across primary to tertiary education, regionally and nationally, and via multi-sector consultation and collaboration.

The University of Saskatchewan is a partner in the Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (SK RCE on ESD). The SK RCE seeks to transform education for sustainability in our region. Education is broadly understood to include formal education (such as primary, secondary, and post-secondary education) as well as informal and non-formal education (such as the private media and public education by non-governmental organizations).

The Sustainability and Education Policy Network (SEPN) is a research-based partnership between academic research institutions and national and international organizations that is administered through the Sustainability Education Research Institute at the U of S.


A brief summary of additional ways the institution collaborates with other campuses to advance sustainability :

In May 2015, the U of S will be hosting the Saskatchewan RCE Annual Recognition Event which will involve other post-secondary institutions in Saskatchewan.

The University of Saskatchewan is also planning professional development opportunities for faculty wishing to integrate sustainability into curriculum, to which we will be inviting faculty of other Saskatchewan post-secondary institutions.
