A brief description of the institution’s program(s) to encourage student research in sustainability:

Undergraduate student research may be supported through the Saskatchewan Sustainability Living Lab which uses the campus and the community as a laboratory for teaching and research to explore all aspects of sustainability to develop actionable solutions to make the campus more sustainable. Students, faculty and staff work collaboratively on applied research projects that address campus sustainability issues and challenges. With time this may expand to include sustainability issues and challenges from the community beyond campus.

Funding from Fisher Scientific helps to cover expenses such travel costs, costs associated with field work, equipment rental or purchase, materials and billable hours from U of S units. In addition, the Campus Sustainability Revolving Fund (CSFR) may fund some projects that bring forward actionable solutions that meet the CSRF criteria

The following statement is from the Principles Section of the University's Standards for Promotion and Tenure: "The University of Saskatchewan's Mission Statement indicates that we value interdisciplinary research and teaching and we should foster it within our institution. The Mission Statement highlights the four scholarships of teaching, discovery, integration, and application. This inclusive approach to scholarship is intended, among other things, to ensure that faculty who have interdisciplinary interests will be encouraged to pursue them and they will be taken into account and valued in the context of tenure and promotion considerations."

A brief description of the institution's library support for sustainability research and learning:

We have library resources on sustainability and support research in this area. However, the area is so interdisciplinary that the support will be via librarians and library resources in law, environment, public health, economics, business, education, sociology, etc.
