A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate:
Campus recycling program started its activities in 2006 under the supervision of the Office of Sustainability. Initially it started with 65 recycling stations placed in a variety of locations around campus. Since then it has grown to 185 recycling stations campus wide. The program continues to grow rapidly. Currently it diverts the following recyclable materials, continuously increasing the diversion rates: paper, cardboard, beverage containers, glass, plastic, metal, clean food plastic, uncontaminated lab plastic, batteries, cell phones, toner cartridges, electronics and paint.
