Part 1. Greenhouse gas emissions inventory
A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:
The most recent GHG emissions inventory was completed in 2024 for FY2023 (July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023). To calculate emissions from stationary combustion (natural gas, fuel cell combustion, and diesel generators), we used the EPA's Emission Factors for Greenhouse Gas Inventories, dated 2023. To calculate emissions from mobile transport (USD's fleet vehicles), we used WRI's GHG Emissions from Transport or Mobile Sources tool, dated 2024. Scope 2 emissions calculations are consistent with WRI's Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard.
Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:
The GHG Inventory was validated internally by staff in the Office of Sustainability that were not involved in the GHG accounting and reporting process. Staff reviewed the inventory for clarity of data reported, to ensure all Scope 1 and 2 sources were accounted for and reported accurately, and to confirm that all methodology and sources used are consistent with WRI's Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard.
