The San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative - USD is a founding member of this organization, which serves as a network for public agencies in the San Diego region to share expertise, leverage resources, and advance comprehensive solutions to facilitate climate change planning. By partnering with academia, non-profits, and businesses, it also works to raise the profile of regional leadership. The San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative is also a founding member of the statewide Alliance of Regional Collaboratives for Climate Adaptation (ARCCA). The director of the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative currently chairs ARCCA. USD is also a member of Cleantech San Diego. Cleantech San Diego is a member-based trade organization that positions the greater San Diego region, including Imperial County, as a global leader in the cleantech economy. As a nonprofit organization, Cleantech San Diego is uniquely suited to support the industry by fostering collaborations across the private-public-academic landscape, leading advocacy efforts to promote cleantech priorities, and encouraging investment in the San Diego region. Finally, USD is an annual participant in the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference. CHESC brings together California Community Colleges, the California State University, the University of California, and private and independent colleges in California to share best practices in campus sustainability efforts.

The University of San Diego hosts an annual Climate and Energy Law Symposium aimed at analyzing and assessing the topic of regulatory changes, effective and functional utility business model, and address market structures.
Mr. Scott Anders (EPIC) sits on several Boards that relate to sustainability and energy.
The University organized and hosted the "Lighting the Way Forward" conference on the future of Catholic Higher Education. One of the four major themes, and the keynote address for the whole conference, was focused on Care for Our Common Home with presentations on climate change, sustainability courses, programs & research, and environmental justice topics. The steering commitee was represented by Dr. Michael Lovetter-Colyer (Vice President for Mission Integration), Dr. Mary Doak (Theology & Religious Studies) and Dr. Michel Boudrias (Environmental & Ocean Sciences) with additional input from an organizing committee with membership across campus. Dr. Michel Boudrias is on the Advisory Board of TMA Blue Tech an interdisciplinary cluster organization bringing together Industry, Policy and Academics. Dr. Boudrias is Chair of the Blue Economy Educational committee. Dr. Boudrias is also on the Advisory Board of 2 Degrees, a public relations and research company working with cities and companies to improve their climate and sustainavility communication. Dr. Boudrias is also on the US representatives on the UNESCO Greening the Curriculum Committee that was established for COP 28.

The University of San Diego is officially designated as a "University of Laudato Si" which requires a 7 year commitment to the principles of Care for Our Common Home. The committee shaping the University's response and implementation plan includes students, faculty from multiple areas (Environmental & Ocean Sciences, Business, Engineering, Sociology, Theology & Religious Studides), administrators (Mission Integration, Sustainability) and community members. The College of Arts & Sciences, with support at the Provost's level, initiated two years of interdisciplinary cluster hires with a focus on BIPOC faculty and strong inter & multi- disciplinary scholarship
