A brief description of the certified/verified sources of clean and renewable electricity:
USD is a participant in the San Diego Gas & Electric (the local utility) EcoChoice program. EcoChoice is a pricing program allowing customers to allocate up to 100% of electricity purchases to be allocated to cleaner, renewable sources. USD is enrolled in the 100% pricing program for its smaller residential and office accounts. EcoChoice is Green-e Energy certified and meets the environmental and consumer-protection standards set forth by the non-profit Center for Resource Solutions (www.green-e.org). Please go to https://www.sdge.com/residential/savings-center/solar-power-renewable-energy/ecochoice for more information.
A brief description of the on-site renewable electricity generating facilities/devices:
Managed by GCL SOLAR, USD is home to a 1.23 megawatt solar PV system atop 11 buildings across campus. Electricity generation data from this installation is available in real time.

A brief description of other sources of electricity not specified above:
USD is a direct-access customer, and purchases its electricity as a commodity via Calpine Energy Solutions. The percentage presented here is based on the Calpine 2018 Power Content Label, and electricity from onsite generation from the university's solar arrays and fuel cell in FY2018-19.
NOTE: In this case, "OTHER" refers to any purchase not traceable to specific generation sources by any auditable contract trail or equivalent, such as a tradeable commodity system (e.g., power purchased from the wholesale market such that the generating facility cannot be identified), or to "null" power purchases that expressly transferred energy only and not the RECs associated from an RPS-eligible facility.
