The course catalog was browsed on a department-by-department basis, assigning tentative classifications to each course. The appropriate faculty (department chairs, instructors, etc.) were then contacted for confirmation.
The STARS committee reviewed descriptions of known courses, beginning with courses included in previous STARS submissions. For departments where there were not previously identified courses, the committee reached out to the Department Chair and Undergraduate or Graduate Coordinator to request information about sustainability courses offered in the previous three years, providing them with a description of what is considered a “sustainability course.”
