A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):
The University of Rochester added a Zero Waste Luncheon on the 2018 orientation schedule. Students are invited to enjoy a lunch that was prepared with the planet in mind. From the prep room to the plate, everything is served to avoid sending any material to the landfill. Special measures are taken to make this possible including pre- and post-consumer compost collection, locally sourced ingredients, and alternative packaging. The Facilities and Dining Team Green students intern groups hold educational tables where students can learn about the reusable clamshell program, proper recycling methods, and other zero-waste initiatives at UR. Giveaways courtesy of Dining Services and Facilities and Services.
