Much like benefitted employees, hiring ranges for student employees exist to help ensure equity across the various student employment roles at the University. Students are normally hired into a position at the low end of the hiring range, but a higher starting rate may be appropriate based on qualifications and experience that the student is bringing to the job. The New York State minimum wage rate is increasing over a three-year period. On December 31, 2014, the rate became $8.75. Our base rate is equal to New York State's minimum wage.
