A brief description of when and why the water use baseline was adopted:
The baseline of fiscal year 2005 was adopted because it was the earliest that this data was available to us.

None
Water recycled/reused on campus, performance year:
0 Cubic meters

A brief description of any water recovery and reuse systems employed by the institution:

None
A brief description of any water metering and management systems employed by the institution:
All major and most minor University buildings have water meters installed. The meters measure water consumption and report back to Central Utilities for data and billing purposes. Since the University receives our water from the city, there are a few major water meters that record major city water intakes.

None
A brief description of any building retrofit practices employed by the institution, e.g. to install high efficiency plumbing fixtures and fittings:
The University of Rochester installs urinals and toilets to the 3.8 lt (1 gal) flush whenever possible. In LaChase we installed hot water instant-heats under the sinks to save on the copper lines. We also install LED lighting in just about all new buildings and renovations. The UR builds to LEED Platinum whenever possible and NYSERTA for energy rebates.

None
A brief description of any policies or programs employed by the institution to replace appliances, equipment and systems with water-efficient alternatives:
The University replaces old taps and shower heads with low flow taps and shower heads and old toilets with low flow toilets throughout the dorms and office buildings.

None
A brief description of any water-efficient landscape design practices employed by the institution (e.g. xeriscaping):
Landscaping on campus is designed so the plants do not need irrigation. Typical plant construction plans do not include irrgation designs instead favoring those that reduce water consumption. Native plants are included to maximize survival of plantations, and currently annual, drought tolerant flowers are grown as well. The goal is to reduce water usage by one-third.

None
A brief description of any weather-informed irrigation technologies employed by the institution:
The Horticulture and Grounds deparment monitors weather forecasts and when appropriate will direct manual adjustment of irrigation throughout the campus.

None
