The policy, guidelines or directive governing inclusive and local purchasing:
The University of Rochester is committed to the principle of diversity and equal opportunity in all of its endeavors and applies this principle in its procurement activity with the objective of encouraging participation by vendors classified as small, disadvantaged, minority, or women-owned enterprises. In addition to contributing to the overall health of the greater business community within which we exist, the University believes that strengthening and expanding its vendor base in these business classifications may contribute to lowering our operational costs in providing education, research, and patient care. To promote vendor diversity, it is a practice of the University to actively solicit and identify qualified small, disadvantaged, minority, or women-owned businesses, and to provide and promote equal opportunities for such vendors within the University structure.
