Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Community Dialogue Network

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

The Community Dialogue Network (CDN) develops our campus's collective capability to engage productively in difficult conversations by training UR students, staff, and faculty in the use of equity-minded group facilitation skills.

The foundation of the CDN is an extensive training series, graduates of which form a network of skilled facilitators who can serve as a resource for difficult campus forums and dialogues. Participants report that the training not only helps them feel connected to a community of others who care about creating a more inclusive campus, but also significantly boosts their facilitation capabilities in ways that will be helpful to their professional success.

Our approach to dialogue facilitation emerged through an ongoing partnership with renowned facilitation experts, Matthew Freeman and David Campt, and emphasizes the complete arc of a dialogue, dialogue design, techniques for leading discussions of polarizing topics, and how to address a range of facilitation-related challenge
