All enrolled students, regardless of type or status, have an avenue through their participation on Council, Senate and Board Committees all of which in some way or another cover off making recommendations to the governing authority. (Some of the various bylaws for the governing bodies and the Act stipulate that the students must be 'full-time' which we define to be taking 9 credit hours or more).

Council shall include a number of the students who are full-time students as attested by the registrar, to be determined by the council but in no case to exceed ten per cent of the council membership, and who shall be chosen for one-year terms by annual election by students under regulations established by the council with a view to obtaining equitable representation of students in the various faculties, and schools of the university.
The Board of Governors includes one student who shall be the President of the Students' Union, elected by students.
The membership of the Senate includes six students of the University, elected to Senate by the students registered in the University.

There is at least one teaching or research faculty representative on the institution’s governing body. There is a faculty rep on the Board of Governors.
The Board of Governors includes one member of the faculty, who is elected by members of Council.
Faculty members who hold a full-time academic appointment at the University as a lecturer, assistant professor, associate professor or professor are eligible to be nominated as faculty representatives for the Council. The University Secretary will set the date of the election and the corresponding deadline for nominations to be received allowing no less than seven business days for voting to take place which will be done electronically. If no election is required, the University Secretary will announce the result following the close of nominations.
A representative of the University of Regina Faculty Association who is also a faculty is part of the Board of Governors. The representative as a member of the Board is involved in establishing and approving the strategic direction of the institution; approving the University's budget and governance related policies.
