UQ encourages staff to develop their capabilities through a broad range of activities and encourages a culture of continuous learning and performance improvement and strongly encourages staff to fully participate in their own development by taking advantage of the courses offered in the University Staff Development Program.

External professional development opportunities are managed at a departmental level and include full payment, reimbursement and/or subsidies. This can include participation at conferences, training courses, development programs and so on. These needs can be determined annually as part of individual's work planning and career development reviews or throughout the year.
