A brief summary of the climate plan’s long-term goals:

The long-term goal of our Climate Action Plan submitted to the ACUPCC in 2010 is to be carbon neutral by 2025. Some long-term objectives include moving away from older, inefficient food production equipment by replacing it with new energy efficient electric and/or gas systems. We also will be conducting comprehensive energy audits during 2012 to guide decisions improving electrical and natural gas use efficiencies (and carbon footprint). University transportation coordinators are establishing a strategic plan to reduce single occupancy vehicles on campus supported by government grant funds. We also are investigating more comprehensive campus composting.

A brief summary of the climate plan’s short-term goals:

The primary climate short-term goal is conducting 2012 updated, comprehensive energy audits and systems reviews. We will use findings to identify and prioritize next major facilities climate measures and goals. An additional short-term goal is converting the campus fleet from gas golf carts to electrical golf carts.
