Minimizing our campus’ impact on the environment requires proactive management of electronic equipment. We focus campus computer purchases with two vendors, both of which are industry leaders in sustainable environmental practices and standards. These practices are applied throughout the life cycle of the machines, from design, production, and packaging through recycling after the machine’s useful life.

The university makes it a policy to only purchase from Dell or Apple when purchasing computing equipment. Apple has gotten a rating of Gold for all of their computers. When the university purchases from Dell 90% of these machines are silver or higher. As of right now the centeral perchasing system for computers is recieveing a major overhal. As such there is no detailed purchasing information that the University could responsibly give about computer purchasing.
