A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with sustainable building operation and maintenance guidelines and policies:
The university is committed to operating buildings in a sustainable manner. Although we do not have a LEED for existing buildings certification, we operate in a highly sustainable manner. Practices include: custodial staff use only green certified cleaning products; indoor air quality and energy usage are regularly monitored in each building; and pesticides or herbicides are not used unless completely necessary. Facilities Services managers and supervisors provide ongoing oversight of and adherence to sustainable operating methods.
