A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive experience(s) offered by the institution:
The SIT study abroad program offers several areas of focus for the programs that they offer to the university. One of the focuses is on sustainability; specifically the program's name is Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity, and Environmental Policy. Please see the SIT website listed below for more information on the program.
We also offer local immersive experiences as .25 credit intensive weekend courses. Two of these courses trace the environmental and social impacts of decisions in our local watersheds—from Mt. Rainier down to Puget Sound. Students join community members in this class, which includes extensive field work and interactions with various stakeholders and decision makers in the region. Another course explores “sustainability in our every day lives,” by hosting reading, discussion and workshop groups in the community to understand and solve sustainability problems.
