A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
The University of Pittsburgh does weekly orientations for new staff employees that has included information about sustainability since at least 2017. Related to sustainability, starting in April 2019, all new employees are shown a 3-minute video to educate them on sustainability programs offered at and by the University -- and how they can help us reach the goals set forth in the Pitt Sustainability Plan. This video was created by Pitt employees as part of an internal employee emerging leaders program. Additionally, at all orientations, the Office of Parking, Transportation & Services (PT&S) presents to new employees on sustainable commuting options (including information about biking laws in PA) and answers staff questions. Pitt’s Office of Human Resources (HR) also directs all new hires to their website, which has its own detailed section on sustainability resources and initiatives at Pitt.

The University of Pittsburgh has also had a Staff Green Guide since 2018 (which is mentioned in the orientation video). In 2020, the Pitt Sustainability team pulled the new, updated Employee Green Guide online in a more easily updatable and user friendly format. The new Pitt Employee Green Guide summarized how employees can engage with sustainability on campus and in their everyday work.
