A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:

To identify externally-funded sustainability research projects, data from the Office of Sponsored Projects was used to identify faculty conducting this research.
For internally-funded sustainability research, data sources included the Chancellor’s Seed Grants, as well as funding provided by the Mascaro Center for Sustainability Innovation’s Research Seed Grants and Undergraduate Summer Research. We also reviewed the list of faculty appointed by the Provost to MCSI’s Sustainability Faculty Task Force. These individuals were added to our inventory and only counted once (even if they fit into multiple categories).
