The John C. Mascaro Faculty Fellows program was established by the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation with the direct support of the University of Pittsburgh's Provost to enhance the university’s mission of interdisciplinary excellence in research and education. Faculty members from all disciplines across the University of Pittsburgh are eligible. Past Fellows include: 2015 Dr. Jeremy Weber (Economist from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs) Dr. Dan Bain (Department of Geology) Dr. Walter Carson (Dept. of Biological Sciences). 2016 Dr. Jeremy Weber (Economist from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs) Dr. Dan Bain (Department of Geology) Dr. Walter Carson (Dept. of Biological Sciences). 2017 Shanti Gamper-Rabindran (Graduate School of Public and International Affairs) Alex Jones (electrical and Computer Engineering) Emily Elliott, geology 2018 Emily Elliott, geology John Sebastian, civil and environmental engineering Mike Blackhurst, university center for sustainable urban research They created and co-teach the "Current Issues in Sustainability" course and the Sustainability Capstone course as well as promote interdisciplinary research with their collaborations.

A brief description of the incentives that faculty members who participate in the program(s) receive:
Each Sustainability Faculty Fellow is provided $25,000 in support to be used for course release, professional development, training etc.
