A brief description of the institution’s community garden:
The Penn Park Orchard and Penn Farm aim to educate and provide local food access to Penn and the Philadelphia community. Open events include orchard maintenance, edible plant workshops, and pick-your-own harvests. The orchard features various fruits, nuts, and herbs and is affiliated with the Philadelphia Orchard Project. The expanding Penn Farm offers diverse programming like class visits, internships, workshops, and volunteer opportunities, emphasizing wellness. It features rows of vegetables, newly tilled beds, and a hoop house for sustainable growing practices. All produce in the orchard is available for harvesting, regardless of affiliation with Penn.
