Penn hosted the Ivy+ Sustainability Collaborative Summit in 2023. Penn hosted a campus ecology tour, Penn faculty, Akira Rodriguez, presented on her research on Philadelphia schools and environmental justice, followed by a tour of Penn's partnership with a local school community garden. The Water Center presented on their campus as living lab work in Cobb's Creek.

Penn was matched with University of Minnesota - Duluth to conduct peer review of STARS Reports.

A member of our STARS Reporting team served as a peer reviewer in the 2024 STARS Cohort. As part of this cohort, our institution was paired with another institution to conduct a peer external audit of each institution's STARS Report. For additional details, please refer to PA-4: Reporting Assurance.

A brief description of other inter-campus collaborative efforts around sustainability during the previous year :

Penn is an active participant in Ivy+ Sustainability Consortium meetings, sharing best practices and collaborating with other higher education universities to advance sustainability. Penn also has become an active member in the Southeast Pennsylvania Higher Education Sustainability Network in the past year and has participated in conversations around advancing environmental justice initiatives, maintaining and improving sustainability initiatives during COVID shut-downs, offsets, and other topics. The Netter Center at Penn has been convening local higher education partners to explore improved communication and collaboration regionally.

Penn students, faculty, and staff participate in numerous boards and committees both locally and internationally.
