For large projects, the University of Ottawa asks that they aim for LEED Silver certification as a minimum. Often this means that contractors will recycle their materials to achieve some LEED points.
For smaller projects, there is a specific clause in the University of Ottawa's tender and construction documentation indicating that contractors must recycle all their construction waste to the best of their abilities.
Operations staff are also told to recycle their construction waste using designated Construction and Demolition bins located in Facilities Services.
