Does the institution offer at least one immersive, sustainability-focused educational study program that is one week or more in length?:
Yes

A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
"Alternative Student break: The University of Ottawa offers an Alternative Student Break program designed to give students the opportunity to participate in a unique volunteer service learning placement during the October and/or February Reading Week. Through this program, the Office of Campus Sustainability provides students the chance to help them determine how uOttawa can become a zero-waste campus. Students perform an in-depth analysis of the materials that are placed in the waste and recycling bins. The purpose of the analysis is to collect information on whether people are sorting properly, what they’re sorting properly and not sorting properly and to discover the reasons for their actions.

This fast-paced, intensive placement provides students with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of waste and consumption problems and reflect on solutions. Not only did they gain hands-on experience but also got the chance to learn from and work directly with the very knowledgeable and experienced OCS team."
