A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
All the courses offered that are related to sustainability are listed on the University’s sustainability website. The list is updated annually and offers the possibility for professors to submit their courses for review.
Sustainability related courses are identified by staff of the Office of Campus Sustainability who conduct an annual audit of the course descriptions and select those that fit the following criteria.
Any course that focuses on basic knowledge with regards to more than one of the three pillars of sustainability (social, economic, environmental) and examines the context in which these topics intersect.
The following is a list of all the sustainability themed and sustainability related courses offered at the University of Ottawa. This list was compiled using a group of three students and two staff who used a list of keywords to search through all the courses offered on campus. Each person worked individually and the results were all brought together and compared. Courses that were not identified by the majority of the group or were not agreed upon by consensus were removed from the list.
