A brief description of the diversity and equity committee, office and/or officer, including purview and activities:
Their mission is to provide leadership in the creation, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and practices on diversity, inclusion, equity, accessibility and the prevention of harassment and discrimination for the entire university community – students, faculty, employees and visitors. This mission is carried out by the Director of Gender and Equity, a Diversity and Inclusion Specialist, along with the Web Accessibility Compliance Coordinator and the Harassment and Discrimination Prevention Officer. Additionally, some faculties have their own specific policies and staff positions that are dedicated to equity and inclusion within their departments. For example, the uOttawa Faculty of Medicine has a 'Policy for an Equity, Diversity and Gender Issues Committee (EDG)' in each department and research institute (http://www.med.uottawa.ca/edg/eng/policy_gic.html).

Diversity and Inclusivity Training and Workshops: Introduction à la diversité | Introduction to diversity: This interactive and practical two-module workshop focuses on broadening our understanding of diversity as well as practicing interacting in a manner that is sensitive to diversity. Clear examples are used to show you how to easily create, format and save accessible documents and to communicate and provide information in an accessible way.
