A brief description of the institution’s Fair Trade initiatives, including the year formal designation was achieved and/or renewed:
The University of Ottawa was officially designated a Fair Trade Campus in 2014 (the 7th Campus in Canada).
As required by the designation, Food Services undergoes a series of important initiatives to ensure the campus is compliant. This includes;
- Signage and posters at all applicable food service locations
- Annual events celebrating the campus' Fair Trade designation
- A push to increase Fairtrade options on campus.
Partners, such as the Health Promotions, help keep the campus educated about Fair Trade with additional events and activities.
