Targets are set for each category and appropriate resources are identified to ensure that those targets are met. The University of Ottawa is aiming for a reduction of 35% of greenhouse gas by 2015 (using 2005 as a base year). The institution also wishes to implement various policies which would require that all new buildings and retrofits meet a minimum of LEED silver certification; a reduction in energy consumption by 2% annually in spite of growth, achieve a recycling diversion rate of 60% of all waste on campus, achieve a transportation modal split of 85%, and reduce domestic water consumption by 2% annually

The University of Ottawa's strategic plan wishes to increase knowledge, better education, improve community service through sustainability projects, develop courses and master programs as well as expand the experiential learning program.
