A brief description of the sustainable food and beverage purchasing program:
We offer certified fair trade coffee in the majority of the food service locations on campus. Fair trade certified coffees are purchased through direct trade from cooperatives (co-ops) or small coffee farmers at a price that reflects a living wage and under trading conditions that are sustainable for producers as well as buyers.
The University of Ottawa is expected to become a "fair trade campus" within the next few months.
