The University of Oregon has a team of employees within Safety & Risk Services who oversee environmental and occupational health and safety programs. The Occupational Health & Safety Team has an annual strategic plan made up of five objectives.
Five Objectives of the Safety Plan
• Employee Participation & Involvement – Collaborative Safety Committees (Safety Advisory Committee [university wide committee], Food Service Safety Committee, Housing Safety Committee, STEP Team [Facilities Safety Committee] Laboratory Safety Committee)
• Hazard Awareness – training, audits, inspections
• Consultation & Outreach – Hazard Assessments, Job Safety Analysis,
• Safety System Development – development, training and audit of safety policy, programs and procedures
• Supervisor & Leadership Engagement – injury reporting and follow up, safety accountability, job planning for high risk tasks

Recordable injuries and illnesses are recorded on a calendar year; Jan 1, 2021 - Dec 31, 2021. Recorded injuries/illnesses include any work-related event that required medical treatment beyond first aid, lost time, restricted time, or hearing loss of a Standard Threshold Shift.
